പോത്താനിക്കാട് ഗ്രാമപഞ്ചായത്തുമായി സഹകരിച്ച് അമൃത ഹോസ്പിറ്റലിന്റെ പിന്തുണയോടെയാണ് ഫൗണ്ടേഷൻ സൗജന്യ കാൻസർ രോഗനിർണ്ണയ ക്യാമ്പ് സംഘടിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്.

ഫൗണ്ടേഷന്റെ യാത്ര 2005-ൽ അന്നത്തെ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി ശ്രീ. ഉമ്മൻചാണ്ടി ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്ത പോത്താനിക്കാട്ടെ ഷാലോം പാലിയേറ്റീവ് കെയർ സെന്ററോടെയാണ് ആരംഭിച്ചത്. ബെഥനി സന്യാസിനി സമൂഹത്തിന്റെ മേൽനോട്ടത്തിൽ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്ന ഈ കേന്ദ്രം നിരവധി കാൻസർ രോഗികൾക്കും മറ്റു മാറാരോഗങ്ങളാൽ കഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നവർക്കും, അപകടത്തിൽപ്പെട്ട് കൈകാലുകൾ തളർന്നവർക്കും, ജനന വൈകല്യങ്ങളാൽ നിത്യജീവിതം നയിക്കാൻ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടുന്നവർക്കും താങ്ങും തണലുമാണ്. രോഗികളെ വീടുകളിൽ ചെന്ന് കാണുകയും, ശുശ്രൂഷകൾ നൽകുകയും, മരുന്നുകൾ, ആൽഫാ ബെഡ്, വാട്ടർ ബെഡ്, മുറിവുകൾ കഴുകി കെട്ടുന്നതിനുള്ള സാമഗ്രികൾ എന്നിവ നൽകുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. ഇവിടെ താമസിച്ച് ശുശ്രൂഷ ലഭിക്കുന്നത് സൗജന്യമായിട്ടാണ്.
പാലിയേറ്റീവ് കെയറിനപ്പുറം, പോത്താനിക്കാട് ബസ് സ്റ്റാൻഡിലെ ബസ് ഷെൽട്ടർ, സെന്റ് സേവ്യേഴ്സ് ഹയർ സെക്കൻഡറി സ്കൂളിലെ കമ്പ്യൂട്ടർ ലാബിന്റെ വികസനം തുടങ്ങിയ വിവിധ പദ്ധതികളും ഫൗണ്ടേഷൻ ഏറ്റെടുത്തിട്ടുണ്ട്.

Free Cancer Detection Camp on December 11, 2016
The Foundation, in collaboration with the Pothanicad Grama Panchayat and with the support of Amrita Hospital, is organizing a free cancer detection camp.

Entry will be limited to the first 300 individuals who register. Registration can be done at the Kudumbashree Office, Private Bus Stand, Pothanicad. This camp is a crucial step in early detection and further treatment for eligible patients.
A Message from the Trust Chairman, K.J. Joseph
K.J. Joseph, the Trust Chairman, emphasizes that the Foundation’s work is inspired by the words of St. Mother Teresa, focusing on providing for those in need. The Foundation aims to extend love, comfort, and financial assistance to all, especially the underprivileged. He views the establishment of the Foundation and its charitable activities as a divine calling, expressing pride and gratitude for his family’s involvement.
The Foundation’s journey began with the Shalom Palliative Care Center in Pothanicad, inaugurated by then-Chief Minister Shri Oommen Chandy in 2005. This center, managed by the Bethany Sisters, provides solace and support to numerous cancer patients and those suffering from chronic illnesses, including accident victims and those with birth defects. Services include home visits by nurses and volunteers, provision of medicines and medical equipment, and free care for inpatients, including food and lodging for their companions.
Beyond palliative care, the Foundation has undertaken various other projects, such as the Pothanicad Bus Stand bus shelter and the development of the computer lab at St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School.
Pothanicad Grama Panchayat Commends the Foundation
Alexy Scaria, President of the Pothanicad Panchayat, lauded K.J. Joseph for his significant contributions to the development of the panchayat. He highlighted the Palliative Care Center as a prime example of Joseph’s dedication to the poor and helpless. Scaria also acknowledged Joseph’s donation of 8.75 cents of land for an anganwadi, cultural center, and other official buildings, demonstrating his commitment to the community’s progress.
